JOB TITLE: Part-Time Barista
REPORTS TO: Barista Supervisor/Kitchen Manager/Principal

POSITION PURPOSE/SUMMARY Baristas are responsible for the preparation, service, and delivery of a la carte food and drinks within their assigned coffee shop.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or equivalent. Experience in large scale food preparation preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES 1. Ensure efficient daily operation of the assigned coffee shop. 2. Adhere to safety and sanitation practices and follow all health department regulations. 3. Operate coffee shop equipment including espresso/ latte maker, blender, speed oven, warming drawers. 4. Prepare and serve snacks to students. 5. Clean and sanitize coffee shop areas. 6. Set up and break down the coffee shop. 7. Collect money, resolve daily drawer. 8. Operate a district POS system. 9. Coordinate with the barista supervisor in the making of school coffee shop slide shows, marketing, specialty drinks, and promotions.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES 1. Maintain a neat, clean personal appearance and wear district uniforms at all times when performing duties. 2. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor. 3. Possess the ability to effectively communicate, verbally, and in written form, with administrators, staff, and the community as needed. 4. Place orders with various vendors for all needed supplies if full-time barista is not available. 5. Add, subtract, multiply, and divide and perform those operations using units of American money and weight, volume, and distance measurements.
MENTAL DEMANDS An individual who holds this position must have the ability to provide clear and complete instructions and the ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS The part time Barista will frequently walk short distances, continuously stand, frequently bend or twist at the neck and torso, continuously grip, occasionally reach, stoop, kneel and crouch. This employee will frequently lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS The employee will work in a busy coffee shop with occasional conditions of extreme heat or cold in a loud and fast-paced environment. There is a greater than average risk of minor burns and cuts. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT Employment will be on an at-will basis for nine-months, beginning with the first day of the work calendar or at the time of employment for the duration of the school year. Each employee will be provided a yearly work calendar showing the specific daily work schedule of the employees. The work calendar may be modified by the Board of Education at any time, as needs dictate. A definite daily schedule will be established by the Director of Student Nutrition Services and the head cook and approved by the Deputy Superintendent.
The yearly salary will be disbursed in nineteen (19) equal payments or twenty-four (24) equal payments per employee’s choice. Employees hired after July 1, 2020, will have hourly wages paid in accordance with the district payroll schedule.
EVALUATION End of the year performance evaluations will occur annually per the provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of support staff personnel.
