JOB TITLE: Work-Based Learning Facilitator, 6-12

 

REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction

POSITION PURPOSE/SUMMARY The Work-based Learning Facilitator will be responsible for assisting in the development of individualized work-based learning experiences that will prepare students in grades 6-12 for future careers in high-need fields.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS The Work-based Learning Facilitator shall hold an appropriate Missouri teacher's certificate. The ideal candidate will have experience with developing and implementing on-the-job learning programs, experience working with governmental agencies, specifically, the US Department of Labor (DOL)., a strong understanding of the skills and competencies required in high-need industries, and knowledge of regional workforce trends.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

1. Support outreach initiatives to create awareness, recruit, and support students in apprenticeship and work-based learning programs

a. Prepare guides for potential candidates.

b. Distribute and monitor applications for interviews.

c. Interview possible candidates.

d. Meet with current students to support their experiences in school and on the job training including addressing any issues (either school or on the job-related).

e. Provide soft skills training for students.

f. Monitor attendance of all participating students to adhere to DESE policy.

2. Work directly with the Executive Director of STEAM and CTE and Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction to identify proper course work (Related Technical Instruction) and career pathways for students related to competitive employment opportunities.

a. Report to the Fort Zumwalt Curriculum Council about experiences in various areas.

b. Communicate to different Instructional Advisory Committees and other teachers the opportunities of work-based learning for their departments.

c. Assist in the establishment of in-service training programs.

3. Collaborate on the development and evaluation of work-based learning, apprenticeships, internships, job shadow, on-the-job training, etc.

4. Assist with business and industry relationships to implement the key elements of work-based learning including registered apprenticeship programs and the various stages of development including allocating resources to best accomplish the goals of programs.

a. Work with the Executive Director of STEAM and CTE on specific apprenticeship-related tasks:

i. Track student hours towards Apprenticeship completion on the RAPIDS database

ii. Set up appendices A,B,D with the DOL and industry partners

iii. Assist in monitoring status of intermediary funding and expenditures to support different work-based learning programs

5. Engage collaboratively with the Department of Labor (DOL), Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), and business and industry on all aspects related to registered apprenticeships.

6. Assist in building relationships with other community development/partner organizations to identify funding sources for programming.

7. Ensure compliance with the DOL and DESE for Registered Apprenticeship.

8. Participate actively on appropriate committees and task forces and in professional associations and organizations at the regional and state levels.

9. Represent the district with local workforce development partners, business organizations, economic development groups, and community/family stakeholders.

10. Collaborate with the Executive Director of STEAM and CTE to establish a process for communicating project updates in a timely and sufficient manner.

 

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

1. Pursue and maintain a positive, helpful, and constructive attitude and working relationship with the supervisor, curriculum staff, teachers, students, and the community.

2. Other appropriate duties as assigned by the Executive Director of STEAM and CTE and Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction.

3. Effectively communicates, verbally and in written form, with administrators, staff, and the community as needed.

 

MENTAL DEMANDS Ability to maintain confidentiality; communicate clearly both orally and in writing, and/or ability to reason and make appropriate decisions. Must be able to work well under pressure and negotiate conflict situations as they arise.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT The 6-12 Career-Ready Facilitator will be appointed for a period not to exceed one year and will be directly responsible to the district administrator in charge of instructional program coordination. The Work-based Learning Facilitator, 6-12 shall be employed on a teacher calendar with an additional 10 days to be worked during the summer months.

 

EVALUATION Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provision of the Board’s policy on evaluation of professional staff personnel.
